Invitation to the International conference “Seas of Consequences”

December 16, 2025

by Solomon Sebuliba

How do we make sense of environmental harm and crime at sea — and who gets to tell those stories?

In April 2026, I am delighted to co-host the international conference Seas of Consequences: Social and Natural Science Narratives on Environmental Harm and Crime at Sea, taking place at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) in Palma de Mallorca (15–17 April 2026).

The conference brings together scholars and practitioners from law, social sciences, and natural sciences to critically examine how harms at sea are understood, governed, and contested — across disciplines and perspectives.

If your work engages with oceans, environmental harm, maritime crime, or interdisciplinary approaches to the sea, I warmly invite you to join us.
