Why the move is too sudden
I am skeptical about the enduring impact of abrupt shifts following a change in leadership. What often appears as lasting transformation is often just political fervor. Nation-building is a gradual process that requires sustained effort, careful planning, and long-term thinking. It’s not about starting from scratch but proving oneself over time. Systems are designed to replace older ones systematically.
The rapid pace of change in certain countries raises concerns, and analysts can easily foresee their uncertain futures. It’s crucial to examine past successes and understand the time it takes to reconstruct a nation. Historical instances, such as the political upheaval in Uganda, reveal the consequences of rash decisions. In one instance, a president displaced a group to allow Ugandans to claim their land, leading to an economic collapse as the new heirs struggled to navigate the existing system.
Fast forward a few years, and a new leadership emerges, often undoing the decisions of the past. This mirrors the current challenge posed by new political ideologies.
